Finding my purpose through PR

I’ve never really viewed myself as the epitome of a Georgia Southern public relations minor. I’m not even sure what that’s supposed to mean or what kind of individual pops into mind when people think of a public relations student. I do know I've never tried to succumb to any title; instead learn to create my own definition. When I first chose this field, I realized public relations isn’t just about getting something out of people or organizing campaigns. It’s about building connections with people. Those from all walks of life that range in a multitude of different ranks and positions. I learned that it was about amplifying those voices that aren’t often heard and giving them a platform.

Whether it’s working with small nonprofit organizations or large corporate companies, I've always wanted my work to mean something, work that lasts beyond the pay. That connection to a community is everything. Building those long-lasting relationships, listening and understanding people's stories and their needs, representing them in the way they truly want to be seen. It is a beautiful, meaningful responsibility and I hold it with honor. That’s what drives me. Using public relations as a way to connect has allowed me to find my purpose. It’s an experience unlike any other.
